Outdoor First Aid - 16 hour course
Come and join us on our Outdoor First Aid (16 hour) qualification. This qualification is ideal for those:
- Who are working in the outdoors and need it for NGB qualifications.
- Running DofE Expeditions
- Completing their DofE Awards
- Go out walking or do outdoor activities, where first aid maybe required.
This qualification is designed for outdoor professionals and employees who work in rural or remote environments, where help could be more than 30 minutes away. It will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of outdoor emergency situations including the syllabus below.
Syllabus
A range of outdoor First Aid related subjects are covered including:
• What is outdoor first aid? • Incident management • First aid equipment
• Bones, joints and muscle injuries • Summon assistance • Head and spinal injuries
• Monitoring • Chest and abdominal injuries • Scene survey
• Major illnesses • Primary survey • Anaphylaxis
• Secondary assessment • Extreme heat and cold • Resuscitation
• Burns • Disorders of respiration • Eye injuries
• Wounds and bleeding • Poisoning • Hypovolaemic shock
• Bites and stings
This qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement.
Minimum age for this qualification is 16, however, younger learners can join us from 14 and complete the one day course. If this would be of interest, please contact us.
Location: This course will be run at Paxton Lakes Sailing Club
As part of the course, you will get a manual and certificate. Please note this course does require minimum numbers to run.
