Duke of Edinburgh - Bronze Award

Participant review - April 2026:

Our DofE Gold practice expedition this weekend was an amazing experience for me and my team. Having not had much luck going through schools or other external providers for DofE expeditions, Edusports tops them all with high quality, challenging and enjoyable expeditions under the leadership of highly skilled and qualified instructors. Huge thanks to Chris and the team for facilitating our team to complete our practice exped this weekend - we are all really looking forwards to our qualifying expedition later this year!

Join us as we embark on an adventure. An adventure that is all about you. At Edusports, we believe that sports education should be more than just physical activity; it should inspire growth, confidence and lifelong skills.  Our participants often tell us we're not like other providers. That's why many return year after year.

Through joining us on the Bronze DofE Award, you will gain a qualification, which will help to build employability skills and give you lifelong memories.  Throughout your participation in the programme, you will take part in 4 different sections, all of which must be completed to achieve the DofE Award. These are:

  • Volunteering
  • Physical
  • Skills
  • Expedition (2 days, 1 night) - this could be walking or cycling.

Join us on one of our information evenings where you'll be able to find out more and sign up for that cohort.

Joining Edusports for your Award will mean you get:

  • 6 x half term check-ins on your sections along with some online training. This will be deliered as 1:1 or small groups.
  • 1 x training day for the expedition, which will include a parents debrief at the end to discuss personal kit requirements.
  • 1 x Qualifying Expedition (2 days, 1 night).  Once we see the sign up and where participants are located, this will decide on where we do the expedition. We could go anywhere within Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire as we want to give the participants a good challenge and experience which will create memories and not just do it in an area which they already know!

Please note if your group chooses to cycle, there will be an extra cost to cover extra training and hire of bikes.

Important notes:

  • To join us, the county you live in must be either Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire.
  • To participate in the Bronze Award, you must be in Year 9 (13 years old) and a maximum age of 25.
  • If you enrol in the September cohort, your expedition will take place in the following year.
  • If you enrol in the January or April cohort, your expedition will take place in the same year (between April and October).
  • It is expected that your award will take no longer than 12 months from the date of starting.
  • Your Instructors are fully qualified with National Governing Body qualifications including First Aid.

Cost

We understand that participating in this sort of activity can be expensive. We do have a range of kit which we can lend out for a small fee to help cover wear and tear, allowing your child to still be able to participate fully. We also have access to funding from DofE.  Please talk to us and see if we can help.

Childcare vouchers can be used to pay.
